HELSINKI, July 14, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Valmet to provide boiler upgrade and flue gas cleaning system to Stora Enso’s Anjala-Ingerois sites in Finland. The objective of the investment is to reduce emissions and ensure flexible use of different fuel mixtures in heat production, as well as to achieve better boiler performance and higher boiler efficiency.

The order is included in the Valmet orders received in the second quarter of 2021. The value of this type of boiler rebuild is typically around 15 euros-20 millions. The shutdown of the boiler is scheduled for the third quarter of 2022, but the installation work for the new bag filter will be done mainly before the shutdown. The project focused on finding ways to minimize boiler downtime.

Valmet’s delivery includes an upgrade of an existing BFB biomass and solid recovered fuel (SRF) boiler, with a thermal output of 110 MW_e. Maintenance type replacements will be part of the work. The modification of the air emissions control system includes a new efficient bag filter with additive feed.
