Joseph Crowley Obituary (2021) – Uxbridge, MA
Josephn R. Crowley, 75, of Whitinsville died on Wednesday July 21 after a period of ill health. He was predeceased by his longtime partner, Helen Gallagher in 2016. Mr. Crowley was a tenacious salesperson and entrepreneur, who worked in a variety of industries including automotive, hospitality, insurance and sea ââfishing. He held sales positions at Monroe Auto Parts, the former Fino Chrysler Dodge in Mendon, now known as Imperial Cars, Cornerstone Marketing and Car Quest, before retiring in 2005. Joseph spent several years as the owner / operator of the former Offshore Lobster and Seafood restaurant in Mendon for which he used contacts from his time as owner / partner at Anderson Lobster Traps, Inc. in Maine to source lobster for Restaurant. He was born on November 1, 1945 in Lawrence, son of the late Joseph G. and Isabelle (Brocato) Crowley. He was a graduate of Medway High School, class of 1963, and a US Navy veteran who served during the Vietnam era; make two tours of service in the Mediterranean during several periods of intense international conflict. Mr. Crowley had been a member of the Amateur Field Trial Clubs of America and past president of the Associated Field Trial Clubs of New England. He was the proud owner of English Champion Setter, Mr. Motion, who received the first annual John S. ONeall Sr. English Setter award in 1981. Joseph enjoyed golf, drag racing, motorcycle touring, antique car catering, hunting, boating, fishing, horseback riding and watching major league sports. Joseph was a fan of great food, both as a cook and as an appreciative guest. He was the family archivist of many favorite multigenerational family recipes. In his later years he became passionate about world history and was considered the keeper of cherished family memories. He is survived by his three daughters, Tina M. Crowley Desprez and her husband Christopher Desprez of Plainville, Jenna E. and her husband Vincent Palmieri of Mechanicville, NY and Jamie L. Crowley of Shrewsbury; one brother, Daniel R. Crowley and his wife Kathleen Crowley of Northbridge and their children Kristen Crowley Aguiar of Grafton and Daniel J. Crowley of Queens, NY; and three grandchildren, Jon Desprez, Nicolas Desprez and Bronwyn Palmieri. Visiting hours will be Thursday August 12 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at Buma Funeral Home, 101 N. Main St., Rte. 122, Uxbridge. A memorial service will follow at 12 p.m. at the funeral home.
