When I first tried a robotic vacuum cleaner, I was happy that it moved around floors picking up animal hair that builds up daily, and accepted that a lot was missing. . Over the past two years, companies have dramatically improved robot vacuums with reliable ground mapping, coverage and docking, smartphone apps to track performance and maintenance, and much more. These vacuums are now part of our home appliance toolbox, but still require someone to clean and maintain them.

AI is now present in a vacuum with ReactiveAI 2.0 combining lightweight 3D scanning and a neural processing unit to improve object identification and avoidance. LiDAR navigation, called PreciSense, is also present so that the precise mapping of your floor plan is captured by the Roborock S7 MaxV Ultra. If you want to talk to a pet or family member, remote viewing and communication is also there for you.

Faster charging is also supported, so if you have large areas to clean, the vacuum will charge 30% faster and get back to work. If you have a mix of carpets and hardwood floors, the vacuum is smart enough to clean both types of flooring in one cleaning session. Given that capacity, maybe I can finally leave the hardwood cleaning to a robotic vacuum.

The smartphone app now displays your home in 3D, raster and 2D views with options to configure cleaning zones and cleaning times for designated areas. The vacuum will also recognize and recommend the right amount of suction power and wash intensity for each space so that it does the best job it can and possibly even better than if you were doing the job manually. The S7 MaxV Ultra can even operate with a maximum suction power of 5100 Pa, which is more than double the S6 MaxV.
