Buckin ‘Horse Extraordinaire Craig at midnight goes to 3
Dressage world champion Craig At Midnight of the Powder River Rodeo in Riverton died on Saturday at the age of 15. He was the 2016 Bucking Horse of the Year in the PRCA and was the Reserve Bucking Horse of the Year in 2017. Craig at Midnight competed in the National Rodeo Final 8 consecutive years and won Round 3 of the NFR in 2018 with Tim McConnell on board. His last outing was in April at the Red Bluff Rodeo in California and Wyatt Bloom rode him for 81 points.
Craig At Midnight weighed 1,700 pounds, so he was massive, to say the least. He was bred as a colt by Powder River, operated by Hank and Lori Franzen. This 2016 season for this horse was a memorable victory with 11 withdrawals and 8 qualifying mounts and these paid mounts. All 8 won money and 2 placed first and 2 others placed 2nd. He started competing at age 4, then took a year off to recover from injury and returned to the PRCA Tour at age 6.
Craig At Midnight was buried under a poplar tree next to Hall of Fame horse Khadafy Skoal.
