The President of Timor-Leste, Dr. José Ramos-Horta, today officially announced the inaugural Dili 'City of Peace' Marathon, which will take place on Sunday the 20th of June of this year. Aiming to attract between 1500-2000 participants, including several international elite and celebrity athletes, this world-class race will be a landmark event for the country and launch Timor onto the international running calendar.  www.dilimarathon.com

The Timor-Leste underwater photographic competition will be an activity that draws top photographers from around the world to compete in producing the best underwater photography off the shores in Timor-Leste waters. The second Tour de Timor Mountain Bike Race will build on the significant successes of the inaugural event of 2009. The inaugural Timor-Leste Adventure Challenge is a six-day multi-stage multi-discipline adventure race incorporating several extreme sport and orienteering challenges. The event will be designed and packaged for television and seeks to attract some of the top adventure race athletes in the world. The event is aimed at showcasing the nation's stunning scenery to a wide, international television audience. In particular, it seeks to showcase Timor-Leste as an ideal destination for the growing numbers of adventure tourists worldwide. With commercialization and distribution through international television networks, the event could generate the most positive exposure the country would have ever seen in its 10-year history.
