Timor Village Hotel in Wailakurini (Loihuno) offers comfortable and clean accommodation for up to 14 people.
The hotel has a relaxed setting, hemmed in by spectacular limestone cliffs, with a river suitable for swimming (depending on rainfall) within walking distance of the hotel. There is a waterfall in the nearby community, along with limestone caves which the hotel can organise tours too. We are also developing links to regional attractions such as the hot springs in Venilale, and visits to Ira Bele and Mundo Perdido for tourists that are staying for more than one night and want to get out and explore.
Electricity is provided 24 hours a day by a spring fed mini hydro system and solar panels with a back up generator. The food is traditional Timorese, mainly Chicken and Beef cooked to western tastes accompanied by a variety of local vegetable dishes (potatoes, carrot, eggplant etc) and rice. We cater well for vegetarians, with tofu or egg dishes provided depending on local availability.
Traditional Tukir Feasts of rice and meat cooked in Bamboo over an open fire can be arranged with prior notice.
Facilities & Services
Timor Village Hotel is a enviromently friendly hotel with very basic facilities. The food is simple, local fish or chicken with local vegetables and rice. All food is well prepared. There is a lovely patio to sit out on the evening.
Nearby are mountainous rain forests to walk through, caves to visit, waterfalls with misty pools to swim in, and the town of Viquque.
Tukir Feast
A highlight of any trip to Timor, our staff can prepare a wonderful traditional Tukir Feast. This traditional style cooks of rice and meat in Bamboo pieces over an open fire. Due to the extra preparation time and effort, tukir feasts are charged at $8 per person. Contact us to arrange this with your visit.
Traditional Cooking Experience
Be warmly welcomed by local women in the village of Loi Huno and help prepare and cook a delicious traditional meal. It is a truly authentic experience, cooking over a wood fire with kids, dogs, chickens and an assortment of other animals running around at your feet. This is together with Timorese women. Breakfast is included in the room price; lunch and dinner are $7 per person/ per meal. Meals consist of meat (chicken, beef or fish depending on local availability) with local vegetables and rice cooked to western tastes. We cater to vegetarians offering tofu and egg dishes, please let us know in advance or on arrival so that our cooks can prepare vegetarian dishes for you. - This district can get cold at night so remember to bring some warm clothing.
