Ramelau is the higest peak in East Timor. A hike up this mount is both challenging and rewarding. With an overnight trip you get to appreciate a sunrise over Timor Leste's expansive landscape.
On the first day you will leave Dili in the early morning by car. You will reach Hato Builico where you grab your tent and hike up to the summit of Mount Ramelau, the highest in the island (2960m).A good night's sleepwill prepare you for an early morning sunrise and clear views of Timor Leste.
As you journey back to Dili you will visit markets and have a view of the capital on your way back down.

- Location: Ramelau / Aileu / Maubisse / Dili / Hato Builico
- Leave Dili in the early morning.
- Travel south on a mountain road into the mountains enjoying the rainforest as we go.
- Arrive at Hato Builico to collect your tent.
- Hike up to the summit of Mount Ramelau, the highest peak in the island (2960m).
- Camp, or if you prefer you can stay in the local guest house.
Day 2
- Awake in the very early hours for the climb to the summit before sunrise.
- Relax and enjoy sunrise at the top of Ramelau.
- Head back down to Hato Builico.
- Drive to Maubisse for a rest and a visit to a local market. On Sunday mornings this market is full of people from all around the region.
- Return to Dili.
