The rainforest of Dare and Remexio are visiting points before arriving at the village of Aileu. Portuguese buildings and monuments, the local church, the former FALINTIL training camp and the local bazaar (open-air market open on Wednesdays and Saturdays) are places of interest in a nice walk to be had around the village.
Proceed further south to Maubisse, less than one hour away. The road, at about 2000m, swirls between the mountains providing many places where you can enjoy the landscape and take photographs.
Further south, along Mount Cablaque, the mountainous landscapes with their rocky edges frame the valleys you will be travelling through. Arriving in Same, the capital city of the Manufahi District, take the chance to taste the local food and rest at one of the simple accommodations available.
After breakfast, drive south towards the coast and stop at Betano Beach. This unspoiled beach stretches for miles with deep blue waters.
Drive west to Hato-Udo and on to Ainaro to enjoy an early afternoon break visiting the village's heritage such as the several religious statues, memorials and church.
On the way north to Maubisse, stop in Aituto and visit the traditional sacred house of the region. In the evening, take a walk around the quiet and beautiful Pousada de Maubisse.
After breakfast, go for a walk in the area, visiting the Maubisse Church and taking photographs from the Pousada overseeing the region before driving back to Dili for lunch and a lazy afternoon at one of the capital's beaches.
